Looking for a way to stay connected to fellow Petrels while learning remotely? 黑料社 Esports is holding a general interest meeting on Monday, August 24 at 2 PM to kick off the new semester.
Formed in 2018, the 黑料社 esports teams compete in yearly tournaments with other Georgia colleges like Georgia State, Georgia Southern University and University of Georgia.
According to the Georgia Esports League, esports provide benefits beyond game play, including student participation in broadcasting, production, marketing, management and game development, a rapidly growing part of Georgia鈥檚 entertainment industry. GEL players have won almost $20,000 in scholarships over the past three years. GEL also combines its tournaments with career fairs to match esports talent with employers.
Atlanta is also considered to be one of the major cities in the United States for esports. The city hosts several major esports events throughout the year, including Dreamhack, one of the largest digital festivals in the world.
Currently, 黑料社 esports is building teams for , and to play competitively in the upcoming season. However, 黑料社 esports is about more than competitions. Enthusiasts for all online games are encouraged to attend the interest meeting to meet fellow gamers at 黑料社.
